Peaceful & pretty, with friendly locals and good food & wine. Vineyards aplenty and a vibrant Saturday market. Seasonal activities range from skiing to sailing to rock climbing. The world famous Tour de France bicycle race comes through Chambery every year.

Places to see are Chambery Castle, Cathedral church of the Franciscan Friars (home to the biggest collection of trompe-l/oeil paintings in Europe) and the delightful Place Saint-Leger which is lined with tall houses, all painted in different colours where you can sit and dine in the one of the many outdoor restaurants.

There are plenty of dining options to choose from in Chambery including modern French cuisine to the more traditional with local wines made in the area.
Le Phare - Chambéry Métropole Le Phare - Chambéry Métropole is a large multi-functional hall of the Chambéry area . It hosts concerts, shows, economic and sports events including handball, through its resident club The Chambéry Savoie Handball.
Old town It is impossible to take a walk in the old town of Chambéry without going past the 15C-16C Cathédrale métropolitaine St-François-de-Sales and rue Croix-d'Or, two steps away. Lined with old mansions, this was the most aristocratic part of the town. The rue Basse-du-Château is also very pleasant with its picturesque footbridge-gallery and old workshops. It will take you straight to the 14C-15C château, which is worth visiting, if only for the Early Gothic Ste-Chapelle.
